Interior photographer & freelance model
A sunset lover with a creative mind that dares to dream and create with intention.
— founder of Kayéra, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands
I approach each project with a intuitive eye, focusing on light, composition and the subtle details that define a space.
By understanding both the character and intention of an interior, I create imagery that feels thoughtful, refined and true to its identity — helping brands and designers present their work in a way that feels elevated and enduring.
It began with my grandfather in Suriname, who worked as a studio photographer, and later continued through my father in the Netherlands. Growing up around cameras and imagery, photography became something natural to me — a quiet way of observing and capturing what felt meaningful.
Although my career initially took a different direction, I spent over ten years working in the pharmaceutical field, both in the Netherlands and the Caribbean. While that chapter shaped me in many ways, teaching me discipline, structure and responsibility — qualities that still influence the way I work today. Over time, however, I began to feel a growing distance from my creative side.
During that period, I found myself naturally drawn to more creative environments and forms of expression. I slowly reconnected with that part of myself — through drawing, painting, and surrounding myself with places and experiences that inspired me visually, from museums and events to creative workshops. It wasn’t a sudden change, but rather a quiet return to something that had always been there.
Focusing on interiors, light and atmosphere, I create imagery that feels refined, timeless and true to the identity of each space — working with brands, designers and private clients to translate environments into visual narratives.
Kayéra — a name inspired by “Kayra” or “Kaira”, associated with grace, beauty and intention. A reflection of how I approach every space I capture.
At that point in my career, I made a conscious decision to transition into marketing — a direction that felt like a natural bridge between structure and creativity, where I developed skills in digital strategy and content creation. It was during this time, while working within a kitchen brand, that I found myself increasingly drawn to the visual side of the work — capturing interiors, details and atmosphere. What started as part of my role quickly became the part I enjoyed most.
I decided to invest in photography more seriously, purchasing my first professional camera and following courses to refine both my technical skills and creative eye. From that moment on, I began to approach photography with intention.
Alongside my work as a photographer, I also work as a freelance model. What started as a passion and creative outlet has gradually grown into something more professional, with opportunities in both editorial and commercial work — a direction I’m continuing to develop.
I enjoy exploring new places — from restaurants and cafés to unique stores and hidden gems. I also value slower moments, like nature walks to clear my mind, attending creative workshops or lectures that allow me to keep learning and evolving. And whenever I can, I love to travel and explore new cultures and cities.
I love Surinamese cuisine, as it connects me to my roots, but I also enjoy exploring different cultures through food. Just as long I get to enjoy myself.
I speak multiple languages, including Dutch and English, and come from a Surinamese-Hindustani background. Growing up surrounded by different cultures has shaped the way I see the world — with a deep appreciation for detail, meaning and diversity in life.
